Yucatecan hoteliers report 85% occupancy during “El Buen Fin” long weekend

The hotels in Yucatán registered an occupancy of 85% during the three days of Buen Fin, which indicates that in addition to shopping, visitors came to the state to vacation this season, in what was a long weekend; This was stated by the president of the Yucatan Hotel Association (AMHY), Juan José Martín Pacheco.

The leader of hoteliers in the state pointed out that, attracted by the discounts of the commercial scheme, tourists responded and came to stay both in Mérida and in other parts of the interior of the state.

He explained that there was a very good movement of guests from last Friday until Monday, the holiday for the 114th anniversary of the Mexican Revolution, which is commemorated on the 20th.

The businessman pointed out that this behavior is due to the joint work of both the state government and the Mérida city council, as well as other municipalities to strengthen the promotion of the Yucatan destination as a desirable option for visitors.

He indicated that these numbers make them think that by the end of the year, they may have a hotel occupancy similar to this weekend, that is, they expect 85% of their rooms to be occupied by the end of 2024.

“These occupancies like the ones we saw this weekend give us good spirits for the end of the year,” said Martín Pacheco.

He explained that, for this weekend, the vast majority of his guests, 95%, were national tourists, a high percentage coming from the south-southeast region such as Campeche, Quintana Roo, Chiapas, Tabasco, Veracruz, but also from Mexico City.

Martín Pacheco thanked citizens in general for the hospitality that characterizes the people who live in Yucatán, a factor that is an incentive for tourists to feel comfortable, think about returning, or even recommend the destination.
