Yucatan remains in first place nationally in influenza cases

So far, 102 positive cases have been registered in the state during the seasonal period.

In the 2024-2025 seasonal influenza period, Yucatán remains in first place nationwide in positive cases, with 102 as of week 46 (November 18). To date, there is only one death caused by the disease, reported the federal Ministry of Health.

Cases of respiratory conditions, classified as Influenza-Type Illness/Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (ILI/SARI), considered suspicious for the disease, increased by 16.21% from the previous week, going from 944 to 1,097, indicates the report of the Epidemiological Surveillance System for Viral Respiratory Disease.

As mentioned, at the national level there are 559 infections, with Yucatán in first place with 102 confirmed. In second place is Nuevo León, with 71, and in third, Campeche, with 53.

In the current seasonal influenza period, the AH3N2 viral subtype predominates.

The vaccination campaign for the 2024-2025 winter season began on Tuesday, October 15, and will end on March 28, 2025, with the aim of preventing severe forms and death from these respiratory diseases.

During this time, the Yucatan Ministry of Health will apply 632,437 doses of the vaccine and the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) will distribute 274,083 vaccines in the state.
