Witchcraft in Mérida, Yucatán: they try to adopt two cats for alleged rituals

On Sunday afternoon, October 20, the pet transportation service “Sobre Ruedas“ (On Wheels) received a disturbing request: to transport two kittens at seven at night to people who would presumably adopt them.

Ana, a 17-year-old girl, contacted the group and provided the location for the adoption. However, what seemed like a simple procedure quickly became complicated.

“A certain Miss Ana contacted me so that I could go pick them up where (the two cats) were being put up for adoption by a couple,” said María Huerta.

Upon arriving at the site, those in charge were surprised that the residents did not know Ana nor were they aware of the adoption.

The confusion continued: at eight at night there was still no clear information. When Ana sent a second address, this also turned out to be uncertain.

At 8:30 p.m., a third location took them to a neighborhood where a young man named Miguel, 19, directed them to Ana’s house.

As the situation developed, the transporters discovered that Miguel was involved in a disturbing scheme: he had obtained the white kittens, presumably, for unethical use related to Witchcraft. Upon learning this, “Sobre Ruedas” decided not to hand over the animals.

The situation became even more alarming when it was revealed that Ana had lied from the beginning, presenting herself as the niece of one of the domestic staff at the house where the animals were supposedly adopted.

Fortunately, the kittens are safe, but it is essential to be aware and report any suspicious activity in the future.

“How is it possible that so young people are involved in such questionable acts for a few pesos?” said María Huerta, from the group “Sobre Ruedas.” Subsequently, and thanks to the timely intervention and determination of María Huerta, the two kittens found a loving and responsible home.
