In an unexpected twist in the case of the missing foreigner in Chicxulub Puerto, a ride-hailing driver revealed that she was stopped by the police while on duty and her vehicle was linked to the investigation.
Ana, as she identified herself, explained that on the day of the disappearance, she had transported the son of Linda, the missing woman, who is now the prime suspect in the case and is being detained while the necessary evidence is gathered against him.
The woman stated that on Sunday afternoon, April 20, she was stopped by Municipal Police officers, who asked her to pull over so they could inform her that her vehicle would be part of the investigation.
Ana stated that she fully cooperated with the authorities, to whom she provided all the details of the trip she took with the suspect, whom she considered “just another passenger.”
Three bags of garbage raise suspicions
One of the aspects that most caught the attention of investigators was that, during the trip, the man was transporting three large bags of garbage, the contents of which the driver did not know.
According to her testimony, the bags seemed heavy, and although she tried to help him load them into the vehicle, the man flatly refused.
She reported that, at the time of her arrest, the alleged perpetrator was in one of the patrol cars, and despite having access to his cell phone, authorities were unable to unlock it, not even using the facial recognition system.
Case of the Missing Woman in Chicxulub: Indirect Accusations
After nearly five hours of interviews with authorities, Ana was approached by a woman not wearing a police uniform, but rather clothing that could have been formal. She suggested that her statements were inconsistent with the investigation, suggesting that she could be implicated as an accomplice.
This comment raised alarm bells for the driver, who expressed feeling vulnerable and worried about her legal safety.
“I’m afraid that, by rushing the process, they’ll want to make me a scapegoat. I’m just another worker; this could have happened to any flatbed driver,” she said.
Ana decided to share her experience to avoid being unfairly linked to an incident in which, she claims, she acted only as a transportation service provider.
