The U.S. Northern Command (Northcom) is investing nearly five million dollars in Yucatán to reequip Basic Rehabilitation Units for rehabilitation and physical therapy for vulnerable people in the municipalities of Maní and Kinchil.
This was announced this Thursday, May 15, by the U.S. Embassy in Mexico in a message from X (formerly Twitter), which was also shared by the U.S. Consulate General in Mérida.
In an initial post, they indicated that Lieutenant Morales of Northcom, along with Consul Justen Thomas, were in Maní, accompanied by the Governor of Yucatán, Joaquín Díaz Mena, and the Head of the National DIF, María del Rocío García Pérez.
They also stated that this contribution is “the result of the close collaboration between Mexico and the United States and will have a positive impact, improving the lives of people in these communities in Yucatán and its surrounding areas.” They say it’s a collaboration between the Defense Coordination Office of the U.S. Embassy in Mexico, through its Humanitarian Aid section, and the National System for the Integral Development of the Family (DIF) to assist approximately 8,000 families.
