A total of 29 animals died from poisoning in this city, after a person allegedly decided to poison them in the Solidaridad neighborhood of Motul.
The Peludos Felices A.C. association reported on social media a new case of animal cruelty that occurred last Monday night in this city. According to the complaint, around 11:30 p.m. last Monday, a woman allegedly placed poisoned food on the street.
This resulted in the death of a dog, four cats, and 16 puppies, as the kittens were pregnant, as well as two opossums and six of their offspring. Only one dog, named “Negrito,” managed to survive thanks to the timely intervention of neighbors.
The case was reported to the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE), and a forensic veterinarian confirmed through necropsies that the cause of death was poisoning. FGE personnel arrived at the scene, and forensic veterinarians knew of these unfortunate events and began investigating protocols.
The community demanded that the Motul City Council take immediate action to prevent the continued killing of animals from going unpunished.
However, they anticipate that the death toll could increase. Bowls of poisoned food were found at the site, and a woman is suspected of being involved.
This situation caused shock and outrage among the residents of the Solidaridad neighborhood, who were feeding stray dogs and cats.
They are calling on the State Attorney General’s Office to investigate and punish to the fullest extent of the law the person responsible for the largest slaughter in the municipality.
The poisoning of the animals not only claimed the lives of these animals but also put the children living in the area at risk.
The Peludos Felices A.C. group filed a complaint with the Attorney General’s Office and will follow up on the case to ensure that those responsible are punished and do not go unpunished.
