Tragedy on Mérida’s Anillo Periférico: Pedestrian Fails to Cross

The Mérida Anillo Periférico was the scene of another tragic accident, which claimed the life of a pedestrian who failed to cross the busy road.

The incident occurred on Friday, March 14th, at kilometer 41, where a person was struck by a pickup truck from Calkiní, Campeche.

Initial reports indicate that the accident occurred near the Anicabil Bridge, on the outer ring road of the Mérida Anillo Periférico. According to witnesses, the victim was attempting to cross the road when he was struck by the vehicle, whose driver was unable to avoid the impact.

The impact was so severe that the pedestrian died instantly, and his body was left lying in the right lane of the road. Paramedics from the Ministry of Public Security (SSP) arrived at the scene and confirmed that the person no longer had vital signs.

State police cordoned off the area to preserve the scene, while experts from the State Attorney General’s Office carried out the necessary procedures to recover the body and begin the investigation.

At the time of writing, the identity of the victim and the condition of the truck driver had not been revealed.
