The Yucatan government installed the new State Health Council

With the commitment to building a fair, humane, and dignified health system for all, Governor Joaquín Díaz Mena installed the State Health Council, a key decision-making body in matters of public health, disease prevention, medical care, and community well-being.

In the Hall of History of the Government Palace, the state governor led the installation ceremony of this Council, which is not just an advisory body or another bureaucratic entity, but a space for convergence, a meeting point between institutions, social organizations, the scientific community, the private sector, and citizens, to design, implement, and oversee a health policy that responds to the reality of the state.

This Council, which was not formed during the previous administration and therefore had not been installed for six years, represents a further step toward social justice and the strengthening of the health system that the people of Yucatan deserve.

Its establishment responds to the national call to consolidate a National Public Health System with an inter-institutional and intersectoral approach, where health is the pillar of collective well-being.

The Council will work with an equity focus to ensure that girls and boys grow up healthy and happy, that women enjoy safe reproductive health, that people with disabilities receive comprehensive support, and that older adults and workers receive timely, quality care.

Within the Council, Alberto Alcocer Gamboa, Director of Planning and Development of the SSY, was appointed Secretary of Strategic Outreach of the State Health Council.
