The son of Linda Johnston, the American woman murdered in Chicxulub will remain in prison

The son of the American woman found dead in Chicxulub Puerto, Yucatán, will remain in pretrial detention after being charged with alleged involvement in the femicide.

The State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) resumed the hearing before the Third Control Judge of the First District, based in Progreso, where the evidence was assessed, and the judicial authority deemed it sufficient to issue the aforementioned order of charge of aggravated femicide.

It should be noted that the man is accused of the femicide of his mother, both originally from the United States.

The events are presumed to have occurred on April 16, when the man, allegedly using violence and taking advantage of his physical superiority, as well as the victim’s defenseless state, caused her death due to mechanical asphyxiation by strangulation, as determined by an expert from the FGE’s Forensic Medical Service.

Therefore, he was granted four months for further investigation, and the accused will remain in custody after the precautionary measure granted during the initial hearing of criminal case 44/2025 was ratified.
