The seventh edition of this citizen project will take place on October 27 in the San Sebastián neighborhood.
With an invitation to proudly preserve our customs and traditions, Municipal President Cecilia Patrón Laviada led the presentation of the seventh edition of the Mucbipollo Fair in the San Sebastián neighborhood, where Merida residents and visitors will once again be able to enjoy ancestral Yucatecan cuisine.
In a press conference held in the church atrium, the Mayor indicated that this activity will take place next Sunday, October 27, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., as part of the Festival of the Souls
“It is a time that we look forward to, so I thank the organizing committee for the work they do to preserve our traditions, which gives us community identity, which is something that is a priority in this City Council, in this new way of governing,” she said.
This gastronomic event, in addition to promoting and preserving the Yucatecan culinary tradition, allows for the generation of a significant economic contribution for the families that live in the area, since it has gained great relevance, especially for national and foreign tourism that eagerly await this date to enjoy the flavors and customs of Yucatan.
Henry Cetina Cámara, president of the Mucbipollo Fair, said that 14 exhibitors from some districts of Mérida and Ticul and Chapab will participate, and will be offering the traditional “pib” of chicken with espelón, castacán, ham, and cheese, among other varieties. The price of the can will be between 800 and 900 pesos.
During the festival, around noon, there will be a demonstration of the preparation of the buried “pib”, for those who wish to know the entire process that culminates in this delicious dish.
This activity is joined by the Dog Adoption Fair, where attendees will be able to interact with the dogs that are looking for a home and, if necessary, adopt them as their pets.
Cecilia Patrón took the opportunity to announce that on the occasion of the Festival of Souls, starting on October 20, decorations with a Day of the Dead theme will be placed in San Juan Park. Monumental figures of two to four meters will be placed, among which catrinas, skulls, lanterns, mestizas, and planters stand out, which will be the perfect frame for the souvenir photo.
Additionally, she commented that next Wednesday, October 16, she will travel to Mexico City to promote the Festival of Souls nationally and internationally, which includes the long-awaited Paseo de las Ánimas, as well as the Noche Blanca, Mérida, Fest 2025, and the Marathon de la Ciudad.
