The new units of the Va y Ven are 100 percent electric and with a new color

Governor Joaquín Díaz Mena gave the starting signal for four 100% electric articulated units, which will be incorporated into the Periférico del Va y Ven route, meeting the high demand that this route registers daily.

From the Xmatkuil Fairgrounds, Díaz Mena reported that articulated buses will begin operations on December 1, benefiting more than 23,500 daily users on average. This is part of the transformation his government is leading to improve service in Mérida and the metropolitan area.

The governor of Yucatán affirmed that, as he promised during his campaign, he is working to improve the public transportation service with better units, such as those presented this day.

Díaz Mena explained that it should not be surprising that these units carry the flagship color of the Mayan Renaissance government (which is the official color of the ruling party MORENA), although he clarified that the color of the buses that are already in operation will not be changed and only the new units will be cherry.

He indicated that he had instructed the Yucatan Public Transportation Agency (ATY) to begin testing these units by offering free transfers on weekends for those Yucatecans who wish to attend the Xmatkuil 2024 International Fair. These units will have as their destination and pick-up point in the station located in La Plancha Park.

He highlighted that the Periférico route has registered an increase of 64% compared to previous years, which has made the number of available units insufficient. For this reason, these articulated units will be put into operation, which will allow users to reach their destinations on time and comfortably since many of them were left waiting at bus stops due to the lack of capacity on the buses.

The new articulated buses, model B18C01 from the automotive company BYD, have a battery range of 250 km, as well as inclusive features such as universal accessibility, wheelchair ramp, Braille signage, low floor, preferential spaces for people with disabilities and seniors, air conditioning, 24 USB chargers, security cameras, bicycle rack, and real-time monitoring system to follow your route.
