The Lebanese Club of Mérida carries out fundraising campaign

In response to the ongoing war in Lebanon, the Lebanese Club of Mérida, Yucatán, is organizing a Pro-Lebanon Collection to provide much-needed support.

Jorge Nechar Jacobo, president of the Lebanese Club of Mérida, emphasized the urgent need for peace and invited the community to participate in this humanitarian effort.

Nechar highlighted the severe impact of the conflict on Lebanon, urging all parties involved to strive for peace. He expressed the collective desire for peace in the Middle East and Lebanon, especially as the community prepares to celebrate Lebanon’s independence at the “Celebrate Lebanon” event on December 1 at the Lebanese Club.

The Lebanese Club of Mérida, in collaboration with the Lebanese Center of Mexico, continues its fundraising campaign. The club has created caps for sale, with proceeds going to a Pro-Lebanon bank account. Additionally, the Carlos Slim and Alfredo Harp Helú foundations will match each peso donated to the account.

The funds raised will be used to provide humanitarian aid to the affected civilian population in Lebanon. Nechar stressed the dire situation faced by the Lebanese people and the importance of this support.

Invitation to Yucatecans

Nechar extended an invitation to all Yucatecans to join the Pro-Lebanon Collection and contribute to the cause. The Lebanese Center Foundation will manage the resources to ensure they reach Lebanon, given the country’s unique banking situation.

Donations can be made to the Lebanese Center Foundation, A.C. The account number is 50033159622, and the code is 036180500331596224. Donors can request a tax-deductible receipt by emailing prolibano@centrolibanes.org.mx.

Let’s come together to support Lebanon during this challenging time and send a message of peace and solidarity.
