The Asian Food Festival will be held in La Plancha Park

The Asian Food Festival returns with a new edition this Saturday, March 15th, and Sunday, March 16th, in La Plancha Park. This event, which fuses the gastronomy and culture of various Asian countries, will take place in the Plaza starting at 4 p.m.

According to Alberto Lavalle, the festival organizer, the event seeks to expand the culinary and cultural offerings in Yucatán, promoting diversity and highlighting the growing community of families of Asian origin who have chosen the state as their home.

“There are many food festivals in Yucatán, but most focus on Mexican food. With the Asian Food Festival, we want to showcase the culinary and cultural richness of different Asian countries, providing a space where culinary exponents and entrepreneurs can make themselves known,” Lavalle emphasized. It was announced that over the weekend, attendees will be able to enjoy oriental dance performances, kendo exhibitions led by a specialized sensei, and an innovative manga workshop. The event will also feature the highly anticipated K-pop competition, which will take place on Sunday at 8:00 PM and has been highly sought after in the solo category.

Parque de la Plancha will also add activities under the “Meetings for Asia” concept, highlighting Pokeweddings, themed ceremonies that will take place on the lake on Saturday and Sunday from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. In addition, iconic Asian films will be screened next to the park’s amphitheater, such as Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods and Howl’s Moving Castle on Saturday, and Pokémon: Mew vs. Mewtwo and Spirited Away on Sunday.

“The festival will feature approximately 12 exhibitors, offering a variety of traditional dishes and drinks from different regions of Asia. Highlights include ramen, mochi, sake, clips, Korean flags, Japanese, Korean, and Chinese beers, as well as Indian, Lebanese, Vietnamese, Korean, and Chinese foods. You can also sample the popular sweet fruit sandwiches, typical in Japan,” he noted.

Finally, it was noted that the Asian Food Festival is an invitation for everyone to enjoy a multicultural experience filled with flavors, art, and tradition. For more information and registration for workshops and activities, please visit the Parque de la Plancha’s official website.
