Six men and a woman traveling in two luxury vehicles and carrying short and long firearms, as well as cartridges of various calibers. They were arrested on Thursday, December 19 by agents of the Ministry of Public Security (SSP) on the Dzibilchaltún-Mérida highway.
State police, who were carrying out their routine surveillance in the north of the city as a result of several operations during December, observed a Dodge Durango truck and a Mercedes Benz car, both black, traveling in convoy and having tinted windows which were very dark.
They stopped at a convenience store, and when one of the passengers got out of the vehicle, the officers noticed that he was carrying what appeared to be a firearm at his waist, so they requested support.
Agents of the State Investigation Police (PEI) of the SSP arrived at the scene. When they asked the person to verify what he was carrying in his waist, they realized that it was indeed a firearm, so he was arrested along with the other occupants of the vehicle—both vehicles.
The police carried out a preventive inspection of the other occupants of the vehicles, where they found six short weapons, two long weapons, a long weapon converter, cartridges of different calibers, chargers, and two telecommunications radios.
All of the above was seized, as were the two vehicles, to be placed at the disposal of the competent ministerial authorities along with the seven detainees.
The detainees are: Jorge Luis T. C., 36 AKA “El Toledo”, Elder Jair T. C., 35 years old; and Jorge Luis T. R., 69, all three from the state of Quintana Roo.
Also Veronica Vianey T. C., 37 years old, Joisner Yael A. T., 20 years old from Mexico City; Gabriel L. R., 48 years old, from the State of Mexico, and Samuel L. S., 50 years old, from Minatitlán Veracruz.
