For a violent robbery committed in a store east of Merida, security authorities arrested Alejandro M. C., 18 years old, on Thursday night.
In a statement, the Secretariat of Public Security (SSP) detailed that the detainee is originally from Chiapas and worked in the Yucatecan capital as a taco stand assistant in an establishment.
It was added that the individual is accused of stealing cash and a bottle of tequila after threatening an employee by showing her what appeared to be a firearm but was a replica.
The crime occurred last Sunday, November 17, in a chain of stores located on Quetzalcóatl Avenue, 8-B, in the Vergel 65 subdivision.
After learning of the crime, agents of the State Investigation Police (PEI) of the SSP, in coordination with the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE), made inquiries, gathered evidence, and identified and located the probable perpetrator, who was placed at the disposal of the control judge who ordered his arrest.
It is expected that the detainee will be presented before the judge so that his legal situation can be determined at the hearing.
Once again, timely reports from citizens helped in the capture of the suspect after reporting the suspicious activity to the 911 emergency number.
