Pets are part of the Merida family (Cecilia Patrón)

In Mérida, we live our traditions to the fullest, and within the framework of the “Festival of Souls” the pets that left have a special place for the love they gave to their family, and that makes them part of it,” said the Municipal President Cecilia Patrón Laviada, during the third edition of the “Pixan Pee’k”.

“In this inclusive Mérida, we all participate and, as I promised, we are in the subdivisions, colonies, and police stations bringing culture, arts, and traditions as generators of community, and that allows us to take care of ourselves and feel safer in this which is the coolest city in the country,” she said.

The Mayor participated in the celebration in honor of companion animals held by the Environment and Animal Welfare Unit of the City Council in Central Park Mérida, in Gran Santa Fe Norte.

In an emotional moment, dozens of families walked with their pets with lights on their collars illuminating the “return” path of the animals that left.

The mariachi notes enlivened the walk, which culminated with a visit to the altar of the Great Herd, where offerings were placed before hundreds of photographs of all kinds of animals that were once part of a family and continue to be remembered with love.

In her message to the neighbors and visitors, Cecilia recalled that the value of the people of Mérida is reflected in a community that cares about its inhabitants and the little animals, that are empathetic and supportive in the face of pain.

“Because Mérida is an extremely generous city, a beautiful city of which we feel deeply proud and where we will always seek to make culture our identity because, in a community where traditions are lived, where they are embraced and enjoyed, it is a community that lives in peace and harmony,” she said.

At the Pixan Pee’k, during the walk, the attendees showed their creativity and enthusiasm with original costumes for both the guardian and the pet.

The Esterimóvil was at the activity offering free vaccinations and sterilizations, as well as veterinary care.

There was also a sale of accessories and clothing for animals, training demonstrations, an adoption catwalk, and a children’s show, with the grand closing of the Cuxum show.

The Mayor was accompanied by the Director of the Environment, Raúl Escalante Aguilar, and the Congresslady Sayda Rodríguez Gómez.
