A man died during his birthday celebration in Cancún, where he was shot by one of his guests.
The incident occurred on the night of Friday, April 4, in the Azul Bonampak neighborhood, in Region 247, when a family gathering was being held for Cristian David’s birthday.
During the gathering, an argument broke out among those present, who were allegedly under the influence of alcohol.
The argument quickly escalated, after which one of the guests pulled out a firearm and shot Cristian, who was seriously wounded in front of his family and friends.
The attacker, whose identity has not been released, was restrained by the same guests.
The victim’s family and friends beat the assailant before authorities arrived, according to the Quintana Roo media outlet.
Cristian was rushed to the General Hospital, but upon arrival, his vital signs were gone.
The alleged attacker was also taken to the hospital for the injuries he received and taken into custody by the Municipal Police.
The area where the crime occurred was cordoned off before the arrival of federal officers and the Ministerial Police to conduct the corresponding investigations.
The exact motive for the argument has not yet been clarified.
