Man comes home and finds out his six dogs were poisoned

The community of Yocchenkax, in Tekax, woke up in shock after six poisoned dogs were found in a neighbor’s home.

The owner, identified as Luis May Sabido, arrived home after work and found his pets dead in the backyard.

According to reports, the incident occurred on 51st Street between 32nd and 34th Streets in the Yocchenkax neighborhood.

Upon noticing the situation, May Sabido alerted authorities, who cordoned off the area to begin an investigation.

Municipal Police, Ecological and Investigation Police, and the Forensic Veterinary Service responded to the scene. The dogs’ bodies were taken for testing to determine the type of toxic substance used.

This is not the first case of mass dog poisoning in the region. In September and December 2024, similar incidents were reported in which several dogs, including owned pets, lost their lives.

Authorities urged the victim to file a formal complaint with the State Attorney General’s Office, as animal abuse is classified as a crime in Yucatán.

Experts recommend taking the animal to the veterinarian immediately, saving a sample of the potential toxin (food, packaging, vomit), and not inducing vomiting or giving liquids (water, milk, oil) without medical supervision, as some substances worsen when dissolved.

This case has sparked outrage among animal rights activists, who are demanding justice and increased vigilance to prevent further tragedies.

Report any case of animal abuse to 911 or the Yucatán Attorney General’s Office.
