Man accused of killing a dog will remain in jail for the duration of the process

Accused of the crime of cruelty against animals, after taking the life of the dog “Covi” in San Pedro Chimay, J.A.B.C. was linked to the process after the evidence presented by the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE), so he will remain behind bars, while the judicial process against him develops.

The events that led to this criminal action against the accused and that are included in criminal case 397/2024 occurred on October 11 of this year, when the man attacked a mixed breed dog with a knife that was on the streets of the aforementioned town, causing its death from acute anemia due to hemorrhage secondary to laceration in the carotid artery, according to the studies carried out by forensic veterinarians.

At the hearing held at the Second Control Court of the First District, the prosecutors argued the link to the acts committed against the dog, so the Judge granted the same and gave two months for the completion of the complementary investigation.

As a precautionary measure, the person involved must remain in justified preventive detention, which will be in effect for the duration of the process.
