Main suspect in the Komchén double homicide arrested

State authorities arrested the main suspect in the double homicide that occurred in Komchén, municipality of Merida. One of the lines of investigation points to a conflict related to some land that the grandfather of the detainee had promised to give him.

The tragic event took place on Sunday, October 20th, in a house located on 29th Street near the corner of 32nd Street, where the bodies of two people were found with obvious signs of extreme violence, according to the victims’ relatives.

The victims, a couple between 55 and 65 years old, were identified as Gregorio T.L. and his wife Aurelia T.A.

State Police agents arrested Pablo T.C., 20 years old, grandson of the deceased, as the main suspect in the crime. The young man was arrested while he was driving aboard a vehicle heading to Progreso.

According to unofficial versions, after committing the crime, Pablo T.C. would have left in his car and later returned to his home in Komchén, behaving as if he had no connection with the events.

The authorities have identified him as a suspect, based on images captured by the C5i cameras and nearby premises, where he is seen in the vicinity of his grandfather’s home hours before the double murder.

In addition, Pablo’s mother is being investigated for her possible involvement in covering up the crime.

One of the main hypotheses of the case is related to the dispute over some land that the suspect’s grandfather had promised him.
