Joan Serra Montagut remains in prison, accused of threats and damages at a Mérida Cafeteria

The Yucatán State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) reported that the foreigner accused of threats and damages at a Mérida cafeteria will remain in prison.

In a statement, it reported that after evaluating the information and evidence presented, Joan Serra Montagut was brought to trial.

The agency indicates that he is charged with damage to property, threats, and slander, reported after intimidating an employee and causing damage to a cafeteria in downtown Mérida. He will remain in pretrial detention.

The prosecutors presented the evidence gathered in the case, which provided sufficient evidence for the Second Control Judge to issue the aforementioned order to bring him to trial for the alleged crimes.

As we’ve reported, Serra became upset about the loud music playing at the establishment, located on 73rd Street between 62nd and 64th in the San Juan neighborhood, as he was staying at the property next door. At the location, as was captured on video, he carried out intimidating acts against the employee, in addition to causing some damage to the establishment’s interior.
