INAH delays the opening of the “Peón Contreras” Theater

The progress of the “Peón Contreras” Theater has great relevance in the recovery of each detail, but there is still no exact date for its opening until a response from the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH) is awaited, reported the Secretary of Culture and Arts of Yucatan, Patricia Martín Briceño.

She clarified that it is the INAH that is carrying out the project, with the new image of the theater being better than expected, but an exact date cannot yet be given, since it is a very delicate restoration.

The official reported that they are now in the process of restoring the dome, which, due to its large size, is one of the spaces that has taken the longest, but she hopes that very soon they will be able to have a response and date for this very important work. “It is being restored detail by detail,” she highlighted.

The iconic place has been open for two years since the incident that destroyed its image and since then there has been no clarity on its reopening, however, as the owner highlighted, they are trying to make it come back in the best possible way.
