German tourist dies after falling from a zip line in Quintana Roo

A foreign tourist died during his visit to Yucatán after falling from a 15-meter-high zip line. The events occurred at Punta Laguna, Quintana Roo, on Tuesday, November 19th.

Preliminarily, the subject was identified as Niholau “N”, 54 years old and of German origin, who lost his life after falling from a zip line in a community in Valladolid, allegedly for not following safety instructions.

The foreign tourist arrived at a tourist center in Punta Laguna, where boat and zip line rides are available, in the company of his wife, identified as Diana ‘N’.

The couple was accompanied by a tour guide, who explained the safety protocols when ziplining. Allegedly, the foreign citizen did not follow all the recommendations and fell from a height of 15 meters.

Reports indicate that Niholau landed among bushes and rocks while his 44-year-old wife watched the accident.

Paramedics from the Public Security Secretariat arrived at the site. Still, they could only confirm that the German citizen no longer had vital signs.

State and Municipal Police as well as staff from the State Attorney General’s Office also arrived to cordon off the area and carry out the corresponding investigations.

Personnel from the Forensic Medical Service (Semefo) took charge of the removal of the body, which will be repatriated to Germany.
