The man who was executed on October 27 and found half-bagged on a bridge in the Mártires de Antorchistas neighborhood in Chetumal was a former Tulum police officer.
Sources within the State Attorney General’s Office report that the man was identified as Juan Carlos Santana, a former member of the Municipal Police.
The body was found half-bagged, next to a poster with a threatening message warning about land theft. It showed multiple signs of torture and was partially bagged.
Passersby found the body on the road and notified the authorities, who shortly after came to confirm the report.
Agents of the State Attorney General’s Office removed the body, to transfer it to the Forensic Medical Service, where it was later fully identified as an ex-police officer by forensic personnel.
