Former Police Chief arrested for the disappearance of people in Tulum

Luis Fernando “N”, alias “Cobra”, former director of the municipal police of Tulum, was linked to the process for his alleged participation in the disappearance of a person.

The Attorney General’s Office (FGE) of Quintana Roo presented sufficient evidence for a control judge to order preventive detention while the process lasts.

The disappearance occurred on June 14, 2023, when the victim, a man whose identity remains confidential, was working in a warehouse under construction in Tulum.

Three pick-up trucks arrived at the scene, from which several men got out. They handcuffed the victim and put him in one of the vehicles. So far, there is no sign of his whereabouts.

Luis Fernando “N”, alias “Cobra”, was discharged from the municipal police of Tulum along with agent Eligio C.C., both accused of their participation in the disappearance and death of a person in the tourist area. Since his dismissal, a reward card of 1.5 million pesos (125,000 USD), was issued for information leading to his capture.

On January 18, “Cobra” was captured. His arrest positioned him as a priority target of the Crime Atlas of Quintana Roo.

This arrest reinforces the commitment of the authorities in Tulum to combat serious crimes such as kidnapping and send a clear message against impunity.
