On the night of Sunday, March 30, 2025, agents of the Yucatan Public Security Secretariat (SSP), in coordination with the State Attorney General’s Office and Campeche authorities, arrested Walther “N,” former director of the Social Communication Unit during the administration of former Campeche Governor Alejandro “Alito” Moreno Cárdenas.

The arrest took place in the parking lot of the La Isla shopping center, in northern Mérida, while the former official was with his minor children.

It was carried out pursuant to an arrest warrant issued by the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Corruption of the State of Campeche (FECCCAM), which is investigating Walther “N” for his alleged involvement in the crimes of embezzlement and abuse of office. According to official information, he is accused of irregularities in payments for government advertising services that were not properly verified, amounting to 16 million pesos (US$800,000).

Following his arrest, the former official was transferred into custody to Campeche, where he will be brought before a judge to begin the corresponding legal process.

The Yucatán SSP emphasized that the operation was carried out with full respect for the rights of the detainee and with due regard for the safety of the minors who accompanied him at the time of his arrest.

In a statement released on its social media, the SSP Yucatan stated that this action is the result of close inter-institutional collaboration between Yucatán and Campeche, and reaffirmed its commitment to legality and the frontal fight against corruption.

“Security and justice are built through the combined efforts of different law enforcement organizations,” the state agency stated.
