A tragic traffic accident occurred on Monday, May 12th, in the María Luisa neighborhood, south of Mérida, where a motorcyclist lost his life after violently colliding with the rear of a parked pickup truck.
According to initial reports, the incident occurred on 21st Street in the Colonias Circuit, at the intersection with 16th Street. The motorcyclist, whose identity has not been revealed, was riding his vehicle when, for reasons still unknown, he lost control and ended up crashing head-on into a parked pickup truck.
The impact was so severe that the man died at the scene. His body lay sprawled across the motorcycle, causing shock among bystanders who witnessed the tragic event.
Emergency services were immediately notified. Paramedics from the Ministry of Public Security arrived at the scene and tried to revive the driver; however, nothing could be done, as he no longer showed vital signs.
State Police officers cordoned off the area while awaiting the Forensic Medical Service (Semefo) personnel, who removed the body and began the corresponding investigation.
