In recent days, the image of the dinosaurs that guard the Meteorite Museum caused a stir, since the original colors, green and gray of the tyrannosaurus, and blue and white of the Mosasaurus, now sport reddish tones, reminiscent of the cherry color of the party (Morena) in the current government, which has caused a sensation on the networks and also fueled a debate.
According to unofficial sources, the reason for these changes is that improvement work is being carried out in this space, which, in the opinion of the current administration of the place, was in a state of abandonment.
The director of the museum, Miguel Alfonso Ramírez Muñoz, indicated that, in November 2024, when he took office, he immediately noticed the shortcomings in terms of maintenance.
The official stated that the roof was cracked, in addition to the lack of structural maintenance. It is known that every time it rains heavily, the water leaks, which causes the premises to flood and remain inoperative until they manage to dry it because waterproofing was not applied.
From November to date, more than 50 meters of cracks in the roof have been repaired and it is expected that another 100 meters will soon be restored to leave it in the best possible condition.
Regarding the figures of the dinosaurs outside, he stated that they were dry and covered in pigeon excrement, which gave a bad image and was beginning to deteriorate.
For this reason, it was decided to give them a new aesthetic by applying paint, provided that they had not been touched up for three years.
Regarding the choice of colors of the prehistoric beings, he stressed that it is the least important since they existed in various shades, so they do not break any scheme, on the contrary. He assured them that they would be given constant maintenance to prevent them from deteriorating more than before.
In reality, and according to experts, there are various theories about the skin color of tyrannosaurs. Some claim that they had feathers, others that they were reddish brown. Remains of melanin have even been found in fossils that suggest that they had a color similar to that of human skin, chickens, or eagles.
In Mexico, it is common that when governments are taken over by a party different than the previous one, logos and colors of stationery, official vehicles, and buildings change. However, on social networks, it was commented that changing the color of the dinosaurs seemed excessive, especially in a museum where science should prevail and not the whims of the party officials in power.
