The Governor of Yucatán, Joaquín Díaz Mena, and the President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, will undertake an intensive working tour of the state this weekend.
During this tour, they will kick off construction of the freight train for the Maya Train and oversee the expansion of the Progreso Deep-Disease Port.
This will be the third presidential visit to Yucatán in the first six months of the new state administration, reflecting close coordination between the federal and state levels.
During this tour, work will begin on the Freight Train, a project of significant economic impact that represents an investment of over 20 billion pesos for the state.
This strategic project seeks to spur industrial and logistics growth, generate thousands of jobs, attract domestic and foreign investment, and improve the quality of life for Yucatecans.
President Claudia Sheinbaum is expected to arrive in Yucatán this Friday afternoon from Quintana Roo, accompanied by the head of the state executive branch. The delegation will arrive at the Maya Train station in Teya and spend the night in Mérida, before continuing with the activities scheduled for Saturday.
One of the highlights of the tour will be a visit to the Deep Sea Port of Progreso, where an ambitious modernization project is underway with a historic investment of 7.9 billion pesos, jointly financed by the federal and state governments, and the private sector.
This project will allow the arrival of deeper-draft vessels, increase the state’s logistical competitiveness, and strengthen its position in international maritime trade.
Additionally, on Saturday afternoon, the president and the governor will lead the inauguration ceremony of the renovated Ateneo Peninsular Cultural Center and the new Maya Train Museum.
With these actions, Yucatán reaffirms its role as a strategic hub for the development of the southeast and as a model for collaboration between levels of government and society.
