Civilians protest and set fire near the house of the dog’s attacker in Xoclán

A group of people demonstrated on Wednesday, February 19th, at the property where a man allegedly set fire to and killed a dog early Saturday morning in the Xoclán López Portillo neighborhood.

The protesters made their voices heard against animal abuse and demanded exemplary sanctions for this act.

Also, on the house’s sidewalk, they set fire to different wooden and plastic objects they found in that place. They pointed out that dogs on the property could present some danger to their integrity.

Elements of the Secretariat of Public Security (SSP) arrived at the site to take note of this event.

It should be mentioned that on Wednesday morning, Antonio C. was charged with the crime of animal cruelty after he was formally accused of burning a dog alive in said neighborhood and arrested. The initial hearing was held at the Mérida Oral Justice Center (Cejom).

Near that neighborhood, on this same day, in the Francisco I. Madero Park, the skin that was believed to be from a dog was found.
