Celestún sets Tourism record with 15,000 daily visitors during Holy Week

Visual transformation of the first square announced to position the port; it will be painted pink.

The port of Celestún, Yucatán, is experiencing one of its strongest vacation seasons in 2025, with hotel occupancy at 90% and more than 15,000 daily visitors, according to Mayor Germán Jesús Cauich Pinto.

In parallel with the tourism boom, the mayor announced an ambitious urban renewal project to give the municipality a unique visual identity, adopting the color pink as its emblem, inspired by the iconic yellow of Izamal.

The Municipal Palace, the main park, and other public spaces will adopt pink and pastel hues to create a memorable visual experience for tourists and reinforce the local identity.

Preliminary work has already begun, although no definitive completion date has been set.

“Pink is already part of us. We want to extend this identity to the entire downtown area without losing our essence,” Cauich Pinto emphasized.

The 35 registered hotels and options on digital platforms are operating at almost 100%. Additionally, surveillance has been increased on beaches and urban areas, with the support of paramedics and security forces.

This weekend, there will be activities at the pier and City Hall to promote local culture.
