Bats celebrated as an important species in Playa del Carmen
On Thursday, the Murci Semana (Bat Week) begins in Playa del Carmen. This is an event dedicated to the celebration of the bat as an important species in local ecosystems, for which there will be various activities.
Mónica Ruiz, a member of Cenotes Urbanos, announced the activities that will take place during these days in various parts of the city.
We are going to have activities in many places,” said Mónica Ruiz.
Cenotes Urbanos, a citizen collective that was founded in Playa del Carmen by the biologist Roberto Rojo García, is the organizer of these events due to the observations they have made of this species in caves and cenotes.
The activities, all free, will begin on Thursday at 4 pm with the creation of the “Murcialebrije” in the 28 de Julio plaza and will have the support of the Frida Kahlo Museum.
On Friday afternoon/evening there will be a visit to the Rostro de Fantasma cave, in the south of Playa del Carmen, where one of the most important colonies of bats is located.
On Saturday 26th, the activities will be at the Sayab Planetarium, with events and a conference given by Roberto Rojo. The activities can be consulted on the Cenotes Urbanos Facebook page.
