Armed robbery reported in Ciudad Caucel, Mérida

Police officers established an operation after an alleged armed robbery was reported in Ciudad Caucel.

MERIDA, Yucatán.— A strong police operation was deployed in the early hours of Friday morning in Ciudad Caucel after the police received a report of an armed robbery in a convenience store.

The business is located at the intersection of 31st and 88th Avenues, according to data obtained at the scene, around 4 in the morning a male person entered who, with a firearm in hand, threatened one of the employees and forced her to hand over money and other valuables.

The criminal ran out of the store when a customer arrived, who had noticed that the robber climbed onto the back of a motorcycle parked a few meters from the store, where another person was waiting for him, and they fled along 31st Avenue.

The employee, frightened, told the customer what had happened a moment before and he called the police, so agents from the Secretariat of Public Security (SSP), both preventive and investigative, arrived at the scene began the investigation, and set up an operation to locate the alleged robbers.

No arrests have been confirmed. Meanwhile, the police maintain surveillance and investigations in the area surrounding the store.
