Anti-narcotics operations in Mérida: houses searched in Pinos and downtown Mérida

Simultaneously, the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE), in coordination with the Ministry of Public Security (SSP), the Mexican Army, and the National Guard (GN), is conducting two anti-narcotics operations in Mérida.

The operations began shortly after 3 p.m.: the first at a house on 51st Street between 44th and 46th Streets in downtown Mérida and the second at a house on 27th and 40th Streets in the Pinos neighborhood, in the north.

Authorities entered both homes after obtaining search warrants issued by a supervisory judge. In the case of the operation carried out in downtown Mérida, a large quantity of narcotics is reported; in the case of Pinos, no information has been obtained so far. It is unknown, at this time, whether anyone has been arrested.

According to the center’s residents, a person known as “Güero” lives in that house and has already been in prison.
