The tragic incident occurred at a home located on 24th Street and 17th Street in downtown Acanceh.
According to the report, the fire was allegedly caused by a short circuit. The flames spread rapidly, reducing the house’s structure to rubble in a matter of minutes.
Civil Protection authorities arrived at the scene in an initial attempt to control the fire, followed later by firefighters, who worked against time to rescue the victim.
However, they were unable to rescue him, and the body was charred among the remains of the house.
Municipal and State Police officers, as well as personnel from the State Attorney General’s Office and Forensic Medical Service, arrived at the scene to retrieve the body.
