After 5 years, the Great Hanal Pixan State Altar Exhibition returns to the Plaza Grande

The aroma of incense, pib, and hot chocolate, as well as bouquets, sweets, music, and traditional Yucatecan costumes, have returned to the Plaza Grande with the Great State Altar Exhibition “Hanal Pixan 2024”, a long-awaited tradition that returns to occupy its rightful place. On this occasion, it was made up of more than 70 offerings made by municipalities, state agencies, educational institutions, and civil associations.

Accompanied by the honorary president of the System for the Integral Development of the Family (DIF) Yucatán, Maestra Wendy Méndez Naal, Governor Joaquín Díaz Mena led this event in the heart of the state capital that brought together Yucatecan families and visitors, who accompanied him on the tour he made along the great variety of altars installed around the Plaza Grande, where they enjoyed the local customs reserved for these dates.

The return of Hanal Pixan (food of souls) came once again with the State Altar Showcase, which is a tribute to our roots and represents the importance of preserving traditions for the Government of Yucatan because they exalt our history and help us understand our present and build a better future.

“We rescued the Great State Altar Showcase because we have to continue promoting our traditions, which fills us with pride as Yucatecans. After 5 years, we have this great exhibition back here in the Plaza Grande, in the Plaza of all Yucatecans,” said the Governor.
