As part of the commemorative activities for the Day of the Faithful Departed, the “Hanal Pixan” altar was displayed at the Legislative Branch facilities, honoring the memory of loved ones and historical figures who have gone ahead on the path.
Within the framework of this celebration, the literary booklet “Aire de Finados” was presented, a compilation of writings by 18 authors from the Union of Community Writers of Yucatan, who recount the customs and traditions that took place during the time of the “Pixanes”.
The President of the Governing Board and Political Coordination of the State Congress, Deputy Wilmer Monforte Marfil (MORENA), reiterated the commitment to work on actions that contribute to promoting and promoting the traditions of Yucatan, emphasizing that the Legislature will be open to receive the population and an active promoter of our customs such as the “Janal Pixán”.
The President of the Board of Directors, Deputy Neyda Pat Dzul, recalled the importance of this celebration, which is part of our customs and traditions and is passed on to new generations, thus ensuring the permanence of the essence of tradition.
The organization of the “Hanal Pixan” altar display was in charge of the Institute of Legislative Research of the State Congress, as well as Deputy Maribel Chuc Ayala, President of the Education, Science and Technology Commission; Deputy Melba Gamboa Ávila, President of the Commission for the Respect and Preservation of Mayan Culture; and Deputy Rafael Montalvo Mata, President of the Art and Culture Commission.
In their messages, the aforementioned deputies agreed on the need to continue the representative activities of our region, preserving the heritage that our ancestors left us, even if they have adapted to new contexts. In addition, they pointed out that they will work hand in hand with the Union of Community Writers to promote actions such as the literary work “Aire de Finados”.
The director of the Institute of Legislative Research of Congress, Maestro. Erik Ojeda Novelo highlighted that the booklet “Aire de Finados” contains stories that give value to traditions and enrich the celebrations of “Janal Pixán”.
Later, the historian Iván Borges Castillo, President of the Union of Writers, thanked the deputies of the LXIV Legislature for allowing the opening so that Yucatecan society and groups such as the one he represents can access the Precinct and make their voice heard.
After the formal ceremony, Deputy Rosana Couoh Chan (PRI) shared her knowledge and experiences in Mayan and Spanish, describing each of the offerings placed on the altar to honor the faithful departed.
This altar was placed on three levels, representing heaven, earth, and the underworld. Flowers from the season of the dead were placed, as well as candles to light the path of the Pixanes. Among the offerings, mandarin oranges, jicamas, sweet oranges, and Pibinales stand out.
