A passenger bus snapped a telephone company pole in two after the vehicle pulled some cables hanging low.
The incident occurred on 68th Street and 75th Street in downtown Mérida, temporarily closing the aforementioned streets, and causing traffic disruptions in the area.
State Police officers responded to a 911 call and arrived at the scene to take note of the incident.
A traffic expert also arrived and began the investigation.
Meanwhile, the passenger bus driver informed his employer and their insurance company so they could take charge. The insurance representative arrived shortly after.
Due to the fall of the pole and cables, a business’s power was cut, as the cables leading down to the service entrance were also snapped by the fall of the pole.
Part of the pole was left hanging from the cables in the middle of the street.
