A swarm of bees attacks several people in Tizimín

A swarm of bees resting on a dead tree went wild this Sunday, March 30th, and attacked several people on 49th Street between 22nd and 24th Streets in the “La Huayita” neighborhood of Tizimín, requiring the presence of emergency services.

One of the victims was taken to San Carlos Hospital in an ambulance from the Ministry of Public Security (SSP). The emergency vehicle arrived at the scene around 4:00 p.m., following a report received through the 911 emergency number.

The bees continued flying around the area and stung other people, who were evaluated by SSP paramedics and the Tizimín Municipal Police.

Among those affected was a minor, although he did not need to be taken to the hospital.

Firefighters also responded to the scene, locating the hive and eliminating the insects, which were dispersing further and further from the area where the initial attacks occurred.

Several families in the area had to take shelter in their homes to avoid being stung by the bees, whose aggressive behavior caused alarm among the residents of Tizimín.
