The weather will change in Yucatán: the cold front is coming with force

The approaching weekend will see a radical change in the weather in Yucatán, as a cold front 42 is coming with everything,” warns meteorologist Juan Antonio Palma Solís, coordinator of Meteored México.

The good news is that the extreme heat will give us a break for a few days, although precautions should be taken against the possible effects of bad weather, he points out.

These days are the hottest hours of the year, with temperatures well above 40 degrees.

Regarding cold front 42, Palma Solís specifies that the first effects will be felt Friday night, but the radical change will begin on Saturday, May 10, right in the middle of Mother’s Day.

“This cold front is coming with everything: heavy rains, electrical activity, isolated hail, very strong gusts of wind, and waterspouts cannot be ruled out on the coast,” he warns. “This is one of the last cold fronts of the season, very strong, and it could generate dangerous conditions, especially at sea.” “Fishermen should be alert because bad weather can take them by surprise on the high seas,” he emphasized.

He expects the sudden change in atmospheric conditions to result in intense thunderstorms and widespread rain in central and eastern Yucatán.

The meteorologist believes this phenomenon will likely mark the early start of the rainy season in the region, which officially begins on May 15, as rainfall from the 10th to the 14th is expected to establish a weather pattern.
