Cecilia Patrón delivers baseball field designed by residents of Emiliano Zapata Sur

“The delivery of the baseball field designed by residents of the Emiliano Zapata Sur neighborhood is another example of the municipal administration’s commitment to the community, and building community is essential to continue transforming unsafe and neglected public spaces into places where people can coexist in harmony and peace,” said Mayor Cecilia Patrón Laviada.

The mayor handed over the construction of the sports facility located on 135th Street between 90th and 92nd Streets in the Emiliano Zapata Sur neighborhood, built under the “Design Your City” participatory budgeting scheme with an investment of 3,069,895.14 pesos.

In front of users and residents of nearby neighborhoods who attended the event, Cecilia reiterated that carrying out projects like this requires joint efforts between citizens and the City Council.

The mayor mentioned that the “Design Your City” 2025 program seeks to ensure that citizens continue to exercise their right to the city and actively participate in the construction of more dynamic and vibrant public spaces, especially in the south.

She reported that, in this edition, 217 parks were registered, of which 117 met the requirements to be considered in the consultation phase, which will take place next Sunday, May 11.

A total of 48 modules will be installed in different parts of the city and its precincts, where citizens will vote to select 19 projects: 18 parks and/or sports areas and 1 green corridor.
