Mérida International Airport registered 321,479 passengers in March 2025, an absolute record for that month, according to Óscar Carrillo Maldonado, airport manager.
During the first week of the holidays, the average daily passenger flow reached 11,000, an increase compared to the 10,000 daily passengers during the low season. This increase is primarily due to flights operating at 95% occupancy.
According to Carrillo Maldonado, April also aims to break records, driven by the traffic generated during Holy Week. “The goal is to exceed a 10% increase compared to the low season, and so far, this is being achieved,” he stated.
He also emphasized that the airport maintains a positive trend, reflecting the state’s tourism boom.
This high flow of travelers is explained by the fact that Yucatán remains in fashion. Its natural, colonial, and cultural attractions attract tourists and new residents. Furthermore, the increase in people moving to Mérida from other states has generated constant family visits during the holiday season.
“Tourism and the arrival of new residents are key factors in this growth,” emphasized Carrillo Maldonado, who expressed optimism regarding the projected figures for the rest of the year.
