The events will feature the participation of more than 50 athletes from other states and countries from the Iberian Peninsula.
The state government, through the Campeche Sports Institute, in coordination with promoter César Corona, will hold two important regional martial arts events during the month of May, endorsed by the International Union of Contact Sports (UDC International), announced Fabricio Pérez Mendoza, Director of Sports Development, representing Francisco Menéndez Botanez, Director General of INDECAM.
The first event will take place on May 3 at the 20 de Noviembre Sports Complex, where the “UDC Fight Pass” Regional Amateur Kickboxing Tournament will be held. More than 50 athletes from the states of Yucatán, Quintana Roo, and Campeche will participate in various categories, both women’s and men’s, ranging from children, adolescents, and adults.
This event will serve as a platform for Campeche athletes, who could qualify for the Bi-National Championships to be held in July, with representatives from South American countries such as Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, Brazil, and Ecuador.
Subsequently, on May 31, Campeche will host the first edition of the “Submission Only” Grappling Tournament (UDC Grappling), which sets a precedent as the first event held in this category in the state. More than 70 athletes from neighboring states such as Yucatán and Quintana Roo are expected to participate.
The state government reaffirms its commitment to promoting sports in its various disciplines, as well as its interest in positioning Campeche as a key destination for regional sports tourism, creating spaces that promote the training, development, and professionalization of our athletes.
