Avianca announced the suspension of its Bogota-Tulum flight, starting July 3, 2025. The airline’s last flight on this route will take place on July 1.
To optimize its network and meet growing passenger demands, Avianca began operating three weekly frequencies on the Bogotá-Tulum route in December 2024 using Airbus A320 aircraft with a capacity for 180 passengers. However, this route is set to close after just five months of operation.
Avianca’s decision has been met with little explanation beyond the airline’s stated policy of periodically evaluating its routes to focus on those with the highest demand. Passengers who have already booked flights on the suspended route will be rebooked via Cancún.
“We remain committed to providing connectivity and access to travelers, while also honoring our contractual obligations,” Avianca emphasized in a statement. The airline assured that it would continue to offer connections from Mexico City and Cancún to Bogotá and Medellín for those traveling between the two countries.
It’s worth noting that Avianca maintains an interline agreement with Viva Aerobus, allowing passengers to seamlessly connect between their flights. This route suspension may lead to increased traffic through other airports in the region, but for now, travelers will have fewer direct options when planning their journeys between Bogotá and Tulum.
