Tensive moments erupted this Monday on the Kauai-Xkalakop highway section of the municipality of Valladolid when a small plane landed just before entering Kauai Airport and subsequently caught fire.
The single-engine Maule-type plane, registration XB-IPI, owned by the National Aviation Crew School Association, made an emergency landing on the asphalt due to an apparent malfunction, forcing the crew to land off the regular runway. Minutes later, the aircraft was consumed by flames.

Despite the nature of the incident, no injuries were reported.
Firefighters quickly responded to the scene to extinguish the fire, while municipal and state authorities cordoned off the area and began investigations to determine the cause of the accident.
