Holbox, the favorite destination for tourists fleeing sargassum

Tourism service providers emphasize that the increase in visitors to Holbox is due to the significant difference compared to the beaches of the Riviera Maya, where sargassum has a considerable impact.

Furthermore, the island, with its characteristic turquoise blue and improved streets, is positioned as an ideal destination this season.

Antonio Betancourt Serrano, a tourism service provider, noted that national and international tourists prefer Holbox for several reasons, such as its sargassum-free beaches compared to Cancún and Playa del Carmen; its crystal-clear waters and idyllic landscapes; and its level streets that facilitate traffic on the island.

From now until Easter, Holbox will reach its maximum capacity for lodging, thanks to its natural beauty and visitor preference.

Furthermore, despite the expected rains, flooding is expected to be less than in previous years. Service providers are confident that Holbox will continue to establish itself as a key tourist destination, offering a unique experience in the Mexican Caribbean and avoiding the sargassum problems that plague other destinations.
