Approximately 45 hectares of land were affected today by fires that broke out in different parts of Kanasín. The Kanasín Ecological and Municipal Police, Kanasín Civil Protection, the Fire Department, and members of the National Defense Secretariat (Sedena) participated in the fight.
The first fire was reported around 11:25 a.m. on a section of the Acanceh-Chetumal highway, near some industrial warehouses. Thursday night, it was reported to be under control.
At 1:45 p.m., the second fire, especially involving brush, was reported in the San Pedro Industrial Estate, which is also now under control.
The third fire was reported at 91st Street and 18th Street in Dzoyolá. Although it was reported near some homes, the fire was brought under control during the afternoon, so it no longer poses a risk to that area.
In all three cases, according to firefighters, the magnifying glass effect was the cause of the fires, so the public is advised not to throw garbage and glass bottles in vacant lots and along roadsides.
