Yucatán promotes beekeeping as an economic and sustainability engine

The head of the Yucatán Secretariat of Economy and Labor (SETY), Ermilo Barrera Novelo, met with beekeeper Federico Berrón, with 40 years of experience in international honey trade, to strengthen this key sector for the state’s economy and sustainable development.

The meeting featured the presence of Representative Wilmer Monforte Marfil, president of the Governing Board of the Yucatán Congress, who has been a key ally in productive and social projects.

Monforte Marfil, an agricultural engineer graduated from the Tizimín Agricultural Technology Institute and originally from Sucilá, along with a group of specialists, are analyzing strategies to position Yucatecan honey in international markets.

Beekeeping is one of the most important sectors for Yucatán, generating jobs and contributing to the preservation of biodiversity. With the support of experts like Berrón and the backing of leaders like Monforte Marfil, the state seeks to establish itself as a leader in the production and export of quality honey.
