The Mayor of Mérida, Cecilia Patrón Laviada, received a visit from the Spanish Ambassador to Mexico, Juan Duarte Cuadrado, for a meeting aimed at strengthening the ties of cooperation between Mérida and Spain to promote the city’s economic and social development.
During the meeting, key topics such as education, culture, security, and investment and cooperation opportunities between Mérida and Spain were discussed.
The mayor highlighted the importance of international collaboration to drive the city’s development and noted that Mérida hosted the “Ibero-American Business Meeting of the Méridas of the World” in November 2024.
The meeting also addressed the new dynamics of a rapidly growing capital in terms of environmental protection and human capital development in the field of technology.
The meeting was attended by prominent representatives of the Spanish Embassy in Mexico, including Honorary Consul Victor Gomez, Ignacio Nicolau Ibarra, Maria Villota Vaquero, Antonio Prats Marí, Maria Peña Mateos, Juan Vicente Perez Hernandez, Clara Alonso Arribas, and Antonio Basagoiti, president of CAMESCOM.
