Searches in Mérida and Kanasín, authorities arrest four and seize drugs

As part of the fight against drug dealing in Yucatán carried out jointly by federal and state forces, today three search warrants were executed in an equal number of properties in Mérida and Kanasín, in which natural and synthetic drugs were seized and four people.

Based on anonymous citizen complaints, investigations were initiated by the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) and the State Investigative Police (PEI) of the Public Security Secretariat (SSP), to establish the probable commission of crimes against health.

These state authorities, together with elements of the Army, Navy, and National Guard, carried out the search operation on a property on 129-A Street at 44 and 46 in the Serapio Rendón neighborhood, south of Mérida.

Also in two adjacent properties on 34th Street by 38th Diagonal and 38-A in the Leona Vicario neighborhood, municipality of Kanasín.

In total, 1.56 kilograms of cannabis, 2.20 kilograms of methamphetamine (crystal), and 544 grams of cocaine were seized.

Four people were arrested: Helbert Armando B. E. alias “El Lic”, “El Lic. Alejandro” and “El Rey”, Justina E. E., Lilia Virginia A. C., and Fausto B. E.

The seized drugs and the detained people were placed at the disposal of the control judge who issued the search warrants.
